The regional authorities announced plans to build five waste processing plants near Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil and Krasnoturinsk. According to preliminary estimations, the investment volume for one plant amounts to RUB 1.5 billion ($26 mln). The negotiations with four potential investors (the names are not published) are under way, the final agreements and the announcement of tenders for the construction of waste plants are expected in summer 2018. Sverdlovsk region annually generates about 1.6 million tons of waste.
In the past, several companies analyzed the business opportunities in this sector, among them Presona and Vireo Energy from Sweden as well as Freudenberg and Sen Group from Germany.
