Sverdlovsk Region will invest 31 billion rubles ($565 million) into the renewal of the water supply infrastructure in the town of Nizhny Tagil, governor’s press office says. It is the largest project of its kind in Russia at the moment.
The project will be realized through a private-public partnership between the local government and a Russian-Hungarian Joint Venture “Ural water company”. The government and the partners will contribute the required investment funds with a share of 50% each. By 2025, two new water treatment stations as well as sewage facilities should replace obsolete systems from 1950s.
The Joint Venture will obtain the right to run the infrastructure for 15 years. According to the tender requirements, the annual possible fee increase for the residents is limited to 4%.
