Rostechnadzor inspector faces 12 years in prison

The prosecutor’s office in Yekaterinburg convicted a former inspector of Rostechnadzor (technical supervisory body) with bribery charges. He faces up to 12 years of imprisonment.

The inspector was responsible for the supervision of gas distribution and gas consumption facilities in Nizhny Tagil.
According to the investigation office, the official was promised RUB 500k ($9,000) for the ignoring of violations identified during the inspections at the production sites of an agricultural company. In detail, the gas supply facilities there were not audited and approved by Rostechnadzor before operation start as required by law. The first bribe part of RUB 250k ($4,500) was paid out.

Earlier another Rostechnadzor inspector was detained for demanding a RUB 250k ($4,500) bribe from OOO Intek for ignoring technical violations identified there.
